The City of Berkeley is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team in the Berkeley Animal Care Services (BACS) Division of the City Manager's Office. BACS provides a wide range of services to our cities' residents and their pets. These services include the enforcement of city ordinances related to animals, removal of killed or injured wildlife, impoundment of stray pets, and investigation of animal-related neglect, cruelty, nuisance and bite cases. At our shelter, domestic animals are housed from the cities of Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, and Piedmont. BACS provides not only a safe haven for these homeless pets, but also adoption services, advice on animal-related topics, lost and found pet reports, and free or low-cost spay/neuter vouchers for Berkeley residents' dogs and cats. The Senior Animal Control Officer, reporting to the Animal Services Manager, patrols assigned areas enforcing state and local laws regarding stray, dangerous and nuisance domestic and wild animals, captures animals, investigates complaints, and serves as a quarantine officer, provides lead direction to animal control officers, may feed and monitor domestic and wild animals held at the shelter, and performs related work as assigned. This is an advanced journey-level classification in animal control, responsible for enforcing applicable regulations in a civilian capacity with limited peace officer authorities.
Monterey County: The Environmental Health Bureau has an opening for a full time Animal Services Manager (Operations Manager) at the Animal Services Center in Salinas. Reporting to the Director of the Environmental Health Bureau, the successful candidate will plan, organize, and direct the activities of Monterey County's Animal Services in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Animal Services Manager represents the Monterey County's Animal Services and collaborates with the public, outside agencies, County departments, and city officials.
